Rooted in New Orleans History

New Orleans Tradition Complete with Custom Artwork

In the 1850s, a gentleman built three houses side-by-side on Esplanade, one for each of his daughters.  723 Esplanade Avenue is straddled on either side by the other two.  All three were built in the traditional Greek Revival Townhouse style, one of the most common building types at that time.  The unusually high ceilings, standard of the era, magnify the regal grandiosity of the already spacious floor plan.

Thanks to the contribution of artist Karen Nitz, 723 Esplanade Avenue features custom hand paintings throughout the residence.  These include a breathtaking rendition of French painter Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec’s 1889 “La Toilette”, situated directly above the original mantle in the Grand Living room and a Michalopoulos inspired accent on the inside of a bathroom door.
